Once in it’s new home surrounded by crisp white chairs, the reclaimed wood top of straight heavy planks on the Recycled Timber Table AB are the focus point of the overall setting.
Product Description
Our client already had chairs so the process of calculating size and style of the Recycled Timber Table AB was made a little easier. Couldn’t have a wide apron underneath as chairs with armrests needed to stow under table when not in use.
We’d salvaged local mixed hardwoods, so each of the seven planks on top was near three metres long and 50mm in thickness (came down to approx. 42mm when dressed) – this table was going to be SOLID. Legs were an unusual size, but it was just what this recycled timber table needed. Square legs wouldn’t have looked right, they had to be rectangular to match properly.
We never know what timber we’re going to salvage, and quite often it comes complete with wire, nails, bolts and even old hinges still embedded or sticking out of it. To eliminate the danger of our tools hitting a metal object as we assemble, we run a metal detector over the timber. Even though old metal is removed, or smacked back in to the timber in some cases, we try and leave as many of the old age imperfections still present to feature as you can see on top of the table.
We get it, everyone is different. Because of this all our recycled tables are made-to-order. We encourage our clients to be a part of the design process. Meaning that each recycled piece can be custom designed to suit your preference of material, finish and dimension.
